Way Too Early Memphis Grizzlies Season Preview

The Grizzlies consolidated rather than swing for the fences. Getting five years with no player option on Ja Morant’s extension was a huge win, the rest of the summer less so. Jaren Jackson’s injury and Kyle Anderson’s departure leave a crowd of young, aspiring backup fours to fill the minutes; also losing ace sub De’Anthony Melton further dents what was the league’s best bench unit. The Grizz re-signed Tyus Jones, however, and the people’s hero John Konchar got a nice extension. Potential business remains: extensions for Steven Adams, Dillon Brooks and Brandon Clarke. — John Hollinger
