When Cybertruck explosion suspect Matthew Livelsberger was identified by authorities, Tim Kennedy asked on social media if anyone knew him, given the military credentials.
As it turns out, Kennedy himself did.
In a video clip unearthed by “Inside Edition” on Friday, Kennedy and Livelsberger competed together on a History Channel shooting competition series called “Ultimate Solider Challenge.”

Kennedy’s lapse in memory could be due to the name he knew Livelsberger by: Matt Burg. Kennedy issued a statement Friday as to his confusion and thoughts on the incident.
“13 years ago I competed in a shooting competition on History Channel called The Ultimate Soldiers Challenge. My partner in this competition was Matt Burg(aka Matt Livelsberger). Last night when I saw old photos of him on the news, I put together that it was the same guy. He was a sincere, hard-working, talented, and competent Special Forces operator. I am flabbergasted and heartbroken to hear the news. None of this makes sense and I like many others are confused and want answers.”
I looked into the background of Matthew A. Livelsberger, the 37-year-old from Colorado Springs who drove a Turo-rented Tesla and blew up at the Trump Hotel in Las Vegas in a huge explosion.

According to U.S. officials, Livelsberger died by self-inflicted gunshot wound in a rented Cybertruck outside Trump International Hotel Las Vegas on Wednesday, New Year’s Day. Livelsberger is suspected to have triggered the vehicle to explode in the moments after.
Livelsberger, 37, served 19 years in the military and was an Army Green Beret. U.S. officials say he sought counseling for depression and post-traumatic stress in recent months.

While investigators continue to sift through digital information left behind by Livelsberger, Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department assistant sheriff Dori Koren called the incident “nothing more than a tragic case of suicide involving a heavily decorated veteran who was suffering from PTSD.”
Koren also said Livelsberger left digital notes that said the explosion “was not a terrorist attack, it was a wake-up call.”
