The Tampa Bay Rays have been one of the most successful teams in the American League since 2008 in terms of record, and although they have not yet won a title, their competitiveness in a tough AL East has been extremely impressive because they do so with a payroll that’s constantly near the bottom of the league. Despite this recent success, their first decade of existence was one of the worst stretches of any franchise in the history of baseball. Before they became the Rays, they were the Devil Rays.
