The USA sealed an eighth consecutive Olympic women’s basketball title on the final day of Paris 2024 which is all that was needed for the Americans to tie China at the top of the medal table.

They beat France in the final seconds of a thrilling contest, leaving the US and China level on 40 golds each, with the Americans edging into first on total medals won, 126 to 91.
