The last time left-hander Jacob deGrom took the mound at Citi Stadium, he struck out 15 Cincinnati Reds – giving him a MLB-record 50 in his first four starts. And deGrom’s turn in the New York Mets rotation comes up again on Wednesday, as he faces the visiting Boston Red Sox at 6:40 p.m. ET. DeGrom delivered an insane 82 points on FanDuel in that 15-strikeout start, and has averaged over 65 points in each of his first four starts on FanDuel.
DeGrom will cost MLB DFS owners $12,400 on DraftKings and $13,000 on FanDuel, meaning putting him on your MLB DFS roster will require fiscal responsibility. But which position players should you consider for daily Fantasy baseball tournaments, 50-50s and cash games? Before locking in any MLB DFS picks for Wednesday, be sure to check out the MLB DFS advice, strategy and projections from SportsLine daily Fantasy expert Mike McClure.
McClure is a daily Fantasy pro who has won almost $2 million in his career. And when it comes to daily Fantasy baseball, McClure is at his best. Recognized in the book “Fantasy Football (and Baseball) for Smart People: How to Turn Your Hobby into a Fortune” as a top MLB DFS player, McClure’s proprietary projection model simulates each game 10,000 times, taking factors such as matchups and recent results into account. This allows him to find the best values on every site.
On Tuesday, McClure had Braves right fielder Aaron Judge as a top MLB DFS pick on both sites. The result: Judge went 2-for-4 with a solo home run on his way to returning over 24 points on FanDuel. Anybody who had him in their lineup was well on the way to a profitable day.

McClure’s top MLB DFS picks for April 28, 2021
One of McClure’s top MLB DFS picks for Wednesday is Yankees shortstop Gleyber Torres at $4,000 on DraftKings and $2,500 on FanDuel. Torres is hitting .222 with two RBIs so far this season. That includes going 2-for-4 with a double on Tuesday against the Orioles.
Torres is off to a pedestrian start, but this is all about the pitching matchup. Torres hits .233 against right-handers this season. And in his career, Torres has hit 44 of his 65 home runs and 131 of his 185 RBIs against right-handers. That’s why McClure loves the matchup against Baltimore’s Domingo German, who is 1-2 with a 6.23 ERA this season, in all MLB DFS matchups.
Part of McClure’s optimal MLB DFS strategy Wednesday includes rostering Yankees designated hitter Giancarlo Stanton at $4,900 on DraftKings and $3,400 on FanDuel. Stanton is hitting just .205 in 2021, but has belted six home runs and driven in 15 runs. Stanton smacked a solo home run as part of a 2-for-5 day on Tuesday against the Orioles.
With just 17 games played at Baltimore, Stanton is relatively new to games in Camden Yards — but has hit .294 with three home runs, three doubles and nine RBIs in 17 games there. And Stanton absolutely dominates right-handers like German, ripping 233 of his 318 career homers against them.
