The Dodgers-Padres season series has been incredibly entertaining so far, and it’s only seven games in. Fans who have been able to be in attendance at any of the games between the two National League West rivals have been treated to some breathtaking moments.
How do you top the drama on the field? How about catching not one, but two home run balls?
That’s what a Dodgers fan who, oddly enough, looks a lot like Walker Buehler, did during Sunday night’s series finale at Chavez Ravine, an 8-7 Padres win in 11 innings. He caught Fernando Tatis Jr.’s home run over the center-field wall in the fourth inning, and two frames later, made the grab on Chris Taylor’s three-run shot.
The fortunate fan didn’t keep both baseballs, though. The late Tommy Lasorda might’ve said this fan bleeds Dodger Blue, because he threw back the Tatis ball (from the star shortstop’s fifth homer of the series) and kept the Taylor ball.
A pretty great night for the young man, indeed. But one has to wonder, if Dodgers manager Dave Roberts called for Buehler during the game — perhaps even two or three times — and didn’t get a response, where might we have found Walker? Certainly not in the center-field seats … right?
