Fabien Galthié selects his 23 to face Wales at the Stade de France
Fabien Galthié has named his France side to face Wales in Friday night’s Six Nations 2025 curtain-raiser at the Stade de France.
For the first time since since 2023 he’s able to call on his first-choice half-back pairing of Toulouse teammates Antoine Dupont (also the team’s captain) and Romain Ntamack. Last year, Dupont was preparing for Olympic glory with France’s Sevens team, while Ntamack was injured.
Elsewhere in the backs, fellow Toulouse star and place-kicking machine Thomas Ramos starts at full-back, behind Pierre-Louis Barassi and Yoram Moefana in the centres. Louis Bielle Biarrey and Théo Attissogbé fill the wing berths, with Damian Penaud (who scored six Champions Cup tries for Bordeaux-Bègles against the Sharks this month) sitting out after picking up an injury in training.
In a typically powerful forward pack, Jean-Baptiste Gros, Peato Mauvaka and Uini Atonio make up the front row, ahead of locks Alexandre Roumat and Emmanuel Meafou. The back row comprises François Cros, Paul Boudehent and Grégory Alldritt.
Galthié has opted for a 6-2 split on the bench. His eight replacements are Julien Marchand, Cyril Baille, Georges-Henri Colombe, Hugo Auradou, Mickaël Guillard, Oscar Jégou, Nolann Le Garrec and Émilien Gailleton.
France v Wales kicks off at 8.15pm GMT on Friday 31 January.
