No. 3 seed Daniil Medvedev takes on No. 2 seed Dominic Thiem in the semifinals of the US Open 2020.

Medvedev, 2019’s finalist to Nadal (in a classic five-setter), has yet to lose a set in the 2020 US Open. The quirky, inscrutable Russian has a game that is extremely difficult to match up against. He has enormous variety and can appear to lull opponents to laziness until he suddenly pounces on a ball and strikes with either his violently whipped topspin forehand or his efficiently punched two-fisted backhand.

Thiem has been to three major finals, suffering disappointing losses twice to Nadal at Roland Garros and once to Djokovic, earlier in 2020 at the Australian Open. Thiem loves to belt the ball. He hangs back, way back on the court, much like he might at the French Open. And he takes mighty cuts off both wings. It’s an impressive sight, and he can really open up and penetrate the court.

Medvedev and Thiem have been the most dominant players in the men’s draw, and whoever wins their semi will be heavily favored in the final. But who will it be?
