Are Bradford the Best League Two RTG Team?

Bradford City were a big part of one of my favourite career modes ever, and i hope after you finish this video you’ll seriously consider them for your next save.

It was a journeyman career, where i tried to move clubs a few times over the save. After starting with League Two Mansfield, i moved the then League One club Bradford City.

Knowing a small bit about their history, i tried to get them up to the Premier League, where they spent a few years when i first got into Football, back in the early 2000’s.

I signed a few EFL mainstays, Adam Le Fondre, Joe Garner, Jem Karacan & Lee Tomlin. Fans of the EFL will recognise most, if not all of these guys, and thats how i built up my save, with the older, declining but still good players that i could get for cheap.

I found this so fun, that ive done similar things with other lower league teams more recently.

Bradford were just the best to do this with IMO. They have a long history at 119 years old, they have a big stadium for League Two, 25,000 seats and they have fairly recent success, so a full RTG doesn’t seem so unbelievable to do.

One of my favourite things about playing with a team from Yorkshire is the amount of rivalry games you can have. The Premier League has Leeds, Championship has Barnsely, Huddersfield, Hull, Sheffield United and technically Middlesborough. League One has Doncaster, Rotherham and Sheffield Wednesday, with League Two having Harrogate and Bradford City.

Bradford supporters hold West Yorkshire derby rivalries with Huddersfield Town and Leeds United, as well as a historic Bradford derby rivalry with the now non-league side Bradford (Park Avenue) as the most important.
Huddersfield in particular are a team who’ve spent a similar amount of time bouncing between the 2nd and 4th division, so if you need any inspiration for your RTG have a look at how they progressed in the late 2010s.

If you want a truly unique save, why not combine an RTG with a massive restriction. See if you can create a Premier League football team with Bradford, while only signing players from Yorkshire.
Ive seen this done with London in the past, but with 5.4 people in Yorkshire, you really do have a good chance of doing something amazing with a team of Yorkshireman

You could have a back 3 of Kyle Walker, John Stones and Harry Maguire, and if you go back far enough, even sign Radamel Falcao whos grandfather came from Yorkshire!

Enough about the save, lets have a quick look through who you’ll be starting out with.

Elliot Watt will probably be your stand out initial player, a defensive midfielder with 90 stamina, you can expect this guy to perform at both ends of the pitch.
Jamie Walker will be your starting winger, and while he doesnt have blistering pace, he’ll still have 30-40 more than most League Two defenders. Expect him to provide and finish at least 15 goals in total in your first season.
On your other wing, Charles Vernam has stats designed for LLM on FIFA. Mid 80s for both speed stats, 90s for Aglity, Balance and Jumping, if this guy had worked on his technicals he could have been playing way higher up the leagues. He’ll be guaranteed to be effective, no matter how you use him.

Finally on to the youth academy, with the only player of note coming out of Bradford being Oliver McBurnie, i wouldnt push too hard to begin with. Focus the lowest rated scout you can find on England, then another poor scout on Scotland, as thats where Bradford like signing players from.
