The endless offseason of Aaron Rodgers is showing no signs of slowing down. Free agency doesn’t officially start until March 10th, but that doesn’t stop the endless speculation of the future first-ballot Hall of Famer’s potential landing spots. He’s currently a diminishing asset and needs to land with a franchise content with an aging bridge signal-caller who is often an off-field headache.
Last year, Tennessee spent over $238M in free agency but still finished 3-14 with a fourth-place finish in the AFC South. The Titans had some encouraging performances, but the absence of even a competent quarterback was too much to overcome. CBS analyst Cody Benjamin thinks Rodgers to Nashville is a likely union and predicts the 41-year-old signs a one-year/$25M deal in Music City.
“His arm remains intact, as evidenced by some late-year darts in 2024,” Benjamin wrote. “The challenge for the cerebral Rodgers, provided he doesn’t pivot last minute to retirement, will be finding a team both a.) ready to contend, b.) willing to push all the chips on 2025, and c.) absorb the inevitable headlines of his arrival.”
The checklist Benjamin laid out doesn’t exactly match Tennessee’s timeline. The organization’s willingness to spend in recent campaigns shows a desire to contend, but the product on the field hasn’t matched those expectations.
Improving from Will Levis might do enough to make this squad a fringe postseason contender. He is 5-16 as a starter, with more total career turnovers than touchdowns. He’s a destructive player whose lack of ball security and severe inaccuracy has been too detrimental to overcome.
If Rodgers can come in, likely with a weapon or two, and provide temporary stability, it could be the perfect situation to improve his stock outside of the national spotlight.
