The Carolina Hurricanes announced on Sunday that they have recalled defenseman Ty Smith and forward Tyson Jost from the Chicago Wolves of the AHL.

The Canes did not practice on Sunday following the team’s 6-4 loss to the Colorado Avalanche the day prior, so it’s not clear if the callups are necessary or just precautionary.

The Hurricanes do have two games remaining on their road trip, with games against the Vegas Golden Knights on Monday and the Utah Hockey Club on Wednesday, so maybe the moves are just to make sure they have extra bodies on hand.

Smith, 24, has two assists in three games with the Wolves so far and Jost, 26, has a goal and three points in eight games.

Carolina is scheduled to practice at 2 p.m. EST at T-Mobile Arenaon Monday.
