Bellator MMA is off and rolling in 2022. The year has brought exciting action back to the cage in the first four months, and the next two are already packed to the gills with massive matchups.

April kicked off with a massive upset as Patricio Ptibull regained his throne atop the featherweight division by outpointing AJ McKee in their rematch. Pitbull used his patience over five rounds to take down the previously undefeated McKee. Now, he and his brother sit atop both the featherweight and lightweight divisions.

Unfortunately the Light Heavyweight World Grand Prix was unable to determine a winner. Vadim Nemkov vs. Corey Anderson was ruled a no contest after an accidental clash of heads opened a massive gash on Nemkov’s head at the end of Round 3. Had the round been completed, a technical decision would have been rendered. Instead, the title stays with Nemkov and the $1 million prize is still up for grabs.

June saw one of the bigger upsets on the championship level in recent memory as Johnny Eblen earned the middleweight crown with a decisive decision over Gegard Mousasi. Eblen took just 12 pro fights to reach the championship level after utilizing a complete game to outpoint Mousasi over five grueling rounds.

Now the calendar turns to September and the promotion is set to return to Dublin, Ireland, with a pair of massive bouts atop the marquee. Benson Henderson is set to take on native son Peter Queally in a lightweight main event. Plus, legendary veterans collide at light heavyweight when Yoel Romero takes on Melvin Manhoef in the co-main event.

And in October, featherweight champion Patricio Pitbull is back to defend his title against rising contender Adam Borics. Also on that card, which will take place on Oct. 1 from Long Beach California, will be the man Pitbull won the title back from in AJ McKee, who will make his debut at 155 pounds opposite Spike Carlyle.

The promotion is set to cap off another major year with two events loaded up with title fights. Light heavyweight champion Vadim Nemkov will once again battle Corey Anderson in the hopes of reaching a conclusion in the Light Heavyweight World Grand Prix on Nov. 18. The two battled to a no contest in April after an accidental elbow opened a massive gash on Nemkov. Plus, lightweight champion Patricky Pitbull will take on rising contender Usman Nurmagomedov in the co-main event.
