Al Horford wrecked the Bucks’ drop coverage throughout the Celtics series, and Williams applied the coup de grace in Game 7. The Bucks’ bench just wasn’t good enough to replace Middleton’s scoring and defense. Maybe that points to the need for a stretch four who would allow Budenholzer to comfortably play Giannis at the five, with Middleton and Jrue Holiday and Pat Connaughton, for longer stretches. Someone like Oklahoma City’s Mike Muscala, he of the 43 percent shooting from deep this season and 38 percent for his career, on an eminently affordable contract ($3.5 million for 2022-23, via club option), would fit such a bill nicely, but it takes two to trade tango.
