BALTIMORE — Giancarlo Stanton launched a long homer and Anthony Volpe tripled for the first extra-base hit of his young career, helping to boost Jhony Brito to his second victory in as many starts as the Yankees defeated the Orioles, 4-1, on Saturday evening at Camden Yards.

Stanton greeted reliever Austin Voth by clearing the remodeled left-field wall with a Statcast-projected 436-foot blast, highlighting a three-run fifth inning. Volpe sparked the rally by ripping a triple off the right-field wall, then scoring on DJ LeMahieu’s double.

Aaron Judge also lifted a sacrifice fly in the frame as the Yankees peppered O’s starter Cole Irvin for three runs on four hits over 4 2/3 innings.

Aaron Hicks stroked an RBI single for his first hit of the season in the fourth inning, supporting the 25-year-old Brito, who was recalled from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre earlier in the day after the Yanks placed right-hander Jonathan Loáisiga and infielder Josh Donaldson on the injured list.

Brito got off to a bumpy start but limited Baltimore’s first-inning damage to Anthony Santander’s sacrifice fly, then settled in to hold the O’s to three hits over five innings. Brito walked two and struck out two, becoming the first pitcher in franchise history to begin his career with two starts of five or more innings, one run or fewer allowed and three or fewer hits permitted.
