Reading host Brighton on Women’s Football Weekend with both sides looking to pick up points in the fight against relegation from the WSL.

Leicester City are currently rooted to the foot of the table, but they sit just one point behind the Seagulls and three behind the Royals as we enter the business end of the season.

Kelly Chambers’ hosts won three games out of four before falling to Arsenal and Chelsea in their previous two, while Amy Merricks’ visitors were victorious in the FA Cup last week but have not tasted three WSL points since November 6.

Here’s everything you need to know ahead of this one.

The only major injury worry in the Reading camp remains Deanne Rose, who is currently working her way back from an Achilles rupture. The Canada international has returned to training but is thought to be a few weeks away from making a competitive comeback.

Chambers did not disclose of any further injuries ahead of the weekend.

Like Chambers, Merrick did not reveal any injury updates in her pre-match press conference and Brighton are expected to head to Berkshire with a full-strength squad.

With Leicester creeping up behind them, both sides are in desperate need of a win in this relegation six-pointer.

Reading had embarked on a pretty impressive run of form before they bumped into the WSL‘s two Champions League representatives this season and should feel confident about their chances of winning, particularly after winning their last game at the Select Car Leasing Stadium.

But this feels like the game where Brighton turn their league season around. The Seagulls should be buoyed by their recent progression to the FA Cup semi-finals and finally claim a WSL victory in 2023.

Prediction: Reading 1-2 Brighton
