Steph Curry has officially gone where no NBA player ever has dared dream of venturing.
With his first 3-pointer of the Warriors‘ game against the Denver Nuggets on Tuesday at Chase Center, Curry became the first player ever with 3,000 career threes.
Curry began the game 0-for-7 from 3-point range, but finally connected at the end of the third quarter.
The latest milestone for Curry comes two weeks after he hit his 2,974th career 3-pointer to break Ray Allen’s all-time record, which stood for nearly 11 years.
Curry also now has made a 3-pointer in 157 consecutive games, tying his own NBA record. During the current streak, he has made a 3-pointer in every game since Dec. 1, 2018.
Curry had a chance to get to No. 3,000 on Christmas Day against the Phoenix Suns, but he finished one shy of the milestone, giving himself the chance to do it in front of the adoring home fans in San Francisco.
Curry, who turns 34 years old in March, will set the mark for 3-point excellence at a number that will be very hard for current or future NBA players to reach. He needed 794 games to reach 3,000, and with several All-Star level seasons left in his career, Curry very likely will surpass 4,000 in a few years, with a chance to reach 4,500 3-pointers.
