Columbus Crew, based in Columbus Ohio for the foreseeable future at least, have made a strong start to their MLS campaign despite the various off-field distractions brought on by a proposed move for the franchise to Austin, Texas. This is vociferously opposed by fans, but to the credit of the squad and coach Gregg Berhalter, the furore has not noticeably affected the team’s on-pitch performances. After five games, the Crew sit second in the Eastern conference, having only lost to the Whitecaps in their most recent fixture.
