After spending his first four seasons as a reliever, White Sox lefty Garrett Crochet made his debut as a starter on MLB Opening Day 2024 and his incredible stuff seemed to translate. Crochet allowed one run over six innings while striking out eight but took the loss with Chicago failing to score a run. Now he’ll take the ball for his second start and he could be a sneaky value play in the MLB DFS player pool on Tuesday at $7,000 on DraftKings and $7,600 on FanDuel.

However, he’s playing on the only winless team in the American League and he’ll have a tough matchup against a loaded Atlanta Braves lineup on Tuesday night. So how much exposure should you have to Crochet in your MLB DFS lineups, and what other starting pitchers should be on your radar? Before submitting any MLB DFS picks for Tuesday, be sure to check out the MLB DFS advice, strategy and projections from SportsLine daily Fantasy expert Mike McClure.

McClure is a daily Fantasy pro who has won more than $2 million in his career. And when it comes to daily Fantasy baseball, McClure is at his best. Recognized in the book “Fantasy Football (and Baseball) for Smart People: How to Turn Your Hobby into a Fortune” as a top MLB DFS player, McClure’s proprietary projection model simulates each game 10,000 times, taking factors such as matchups and recent results into account. This allows him to find the best values on every site.

On Monday, McClure highlighted Red Sox shortstop Trevor Story as one of his top DFS picks on both sites. The result: Story went 1-for-4 with a walk, a double, a run scored and two RBI, returning 13 points on DraftKings and 19.2 points on FanDuel. Anybody who included him in their lineups was well on the way to a profitable day.

Now, with the 2024 MLB season rolling, McClure has locked in his top MLB daily Fantasy picks for Tuesday, April 2. Head to SportsLine now to see them

McClure’s top MLB DFS picks for Tuesday

One of McClure’s top MLB DFS picks for Tuesday is rostering Cardinals second baseman Nolan Gorman at $4,100 on DraftKings and $3,200 on FanDuel. A first-round pick out of high school in 2018, Gorman was a consensus top-100 prospect for four seasons before finally making his MLB debut in 2022 and he immediately put his power on showcase.

Gorman hit 14 home runs over 313 plate appearances during his rookie season and continued to prove himself as one of the best power-hitting second basemen in baseball in 2023. He hit 27 home runs and drove in 76 runs over 119 games in his second season while posting an .805 OPS. He hasn’t hit a home run yet in 2024 but he will enter Tuesday’s action on a four-game hitting streak and the lefty will have favorable weather conditions with the wind blowing out to right field at Petco Park.

McClure is stacking Gorman with Cardinals third baseman Nolan Arenado at $4,600 on DraftKings and $3,000 on FanDuel. The eight-time All-Star is off to a sluggish 3-for-21 start to the 2024 MLB season but he has a stellar matchup on Tuesday against Padres righty Yu Darvish. Arenado is 8-for-20 with three home runs and nine RBI in his career against Darvish.

Just a couple of weeks shy of his 33rd birthday, Arenado is sitting on 325 home runs and 1,063 RBI for his career with 90 of those bombs and 301 driven in over his three years in St. Louis. He’s been an All-Star in every season with the Cardinals and he’s a safe bet to break out of this funk soon. See McClure’s full MLB DFS player pool at SportsLine.
