With just a week to go until the 2022 MLB All-Star game, the Braves are one of the hottest teams in baseball, and what was once a double-digit lead in the NL East for the Mets is down to just 2.5 games. The Mets got the best of the Braves in the first contest of a pivotal three-game series on Monday, and Tuesday’s pitching matchup is expected to be David Peterson vs. Spencer Strider. Both youngsters have been solid with Peterson sporting a 3.48 ERA with 67 strikeouts over 62 innings while Strider has a 2.60 ERA with 102 strikeouts over 65.2 innings. But is either a good fit for your Tuesday MLB DFS lineups?

Both generate lots of swings and misses to enhance their daily Fantasy baseball upsides, but both will be taking on potentially dangerous lineups in a high-leverage start. So can you trust either, or should you be looking for more one-sided matchups in the MLB DFS player pool? Before you make your MLB DFS picks for Tuesday, be sure to check out the MLB DFS advice, strategy and projections from SportsLine daily Fantasy expert Mike McClure.

McClure is a daily Fantasy pro who has won over $2 million in his career. And when it comes to daily Fantasy baseball, McClure is at his best. Recognized in the book “Fantasy Football (and Baseball) for Smart People: How to Turn Your Hobby into a Fortune” as a top MLB DFS player, McClure’s proprietary projection model simulates each game 10,000 times, taking factors such as matchups and recent results into account. This allows him to find the best values on every site.

On Monday, McClure highlighted Rangers infielder Josh H. Smith as one of his top MLB DFS picks on DraftKings and FanDuel. The result: Smith hit a two-run home run and also contributed a sac fly to return 18 points on DraftKings and 25.7 points on FanDuel. Anybody that included him in their lineups was well on the way to a profitable day.

Now, as the 2022 MLB season continues, McClure has locked in his top MLB daily Fantasy picks for Tuesday, July 12. Head to SportsLine now to see them.

McClure’s top MLB DFS picks for Tuesday, July 12, 2022

For Tuesday, one of McClure’s MLB DFS picks is Padres third baseman Manny Machado ($5,100 on DraftKings and $4,500 on FanDuel). Machado homered in Game One of the series on Monday night and has now hit a home run in three of his last five games to bring his slash line to .310/.385/.538 with 15 home runs and 51 RBI.

He’ll make his sixth All-Star appearance as he starts for the National League squad at third base next Tuesday, and he’ll be hoping to ride a hot streak into the Midsummer Classic. Machado has a 1.257 OPS at Coors Field so far this season and he’s a solid 4-for-13 in his career off expected Rockies starter Austin Gomber.

Another part of McClure’s optimal MLB DFS strategy includes rostering Orioles outfielder Cedric Mullins ($4,900 on DraftKings and $3,400 on FanDuel). Mullins made his first All-Star appearance in 2021 and went on to become a member of the esteemed 30-30 club (30 home runs and 30 stolen bases) while slashing .291/.360/.518 on the season.

And while he hasn’t been quite as productive overall in 2022 (.709 OPS), he has started to heat up a bit as we’ve gotten into the summer months. Mullins is hitting .290 since the beginning of June and his 16 steals overall this season rank fourth in the American League. He’ll play in hitter-friendly Wrigley Field on Tuesday and it’s expected to be a warm evening with the wind blowing straight out to right field.

How to set your MLB DFS lineups for Tuesday, July 12, 2022

McClure is also targeting an undervalued player who is set to explode for huge numbers on Tuesday. The stars are aligning for him to return tournament-winning value and he comes at a price that won’t break the bank. You can only see who it is here.
