As Caitlin Clark chases another massive scoring record, Iowa’s season is becoming more intense by the day.

The Hawkeyes have just two regular season games remaining before the Big Ten Tournament and a postseason run with national title aspirations. While Iowa is ranked No. 6 in the nation and has just four losses, defense is a growing concern. The Hawkeyes have allowed more than 80 points in eight consecutive games, two of which were losses.

For this Iowa team, the best defense might be more offense. And the Hawkeyes have just the right star for that mission.

Clark is posting otherworldly numbers this season, to the point that she stuffs the stat sheets even in her down performances. While she struggled against Indiana last week and scored less than 25 points again vs. Illinois over the weekend, Clark posted a triple-double in one of the contests and nearly did so in the other. Will she get back to her usual 30-point performances Wednesday night?

Clark is just 50 points away from tying Pete Maravich’s overall NCAA scoring record of 3,667 points. Could she score 50 against Minnesota? Clark doesn’t have a 50-point game in her college career, but she did score 49 on the night she broke Kelsey Plum’s women’s scoring record just two weeks ago.

Clark makes the impossible seem possible, and that puts the possibility of challenging Maravich’s record on the table entering Wednesday’s matchup.
