Bryson DeChambeau is out of the Tokyo Olympics men’s golf tournament after testing positive for COVID-19.
The PGA Tour announced the test result late Saturday. It also said that Patrick Reed will take DeChambeau’s place on Team USA.

PGATour.com reported that DeChambeau tested positive before he left the U.S. for Tokyo. It is not clear whether DeChambeau is symptomatic.

“I am deeply disappointed not to be able to compete in the Olympics for Team USA,” DeChambeau said, per PGATour.com. “Representing my country means the world to me and it is was a tremendous honor to make this team. I wish Team USA the best of luck next week in Tokyo. I will now focus on getting healthy, and I look forward to returning to competition once I am cleared to do so.”
The 27-year-old DeChambeau competed at the British Open in England last weekend. He finished tied for 33rd place.
The men’s Olympic golf tournament will begin July 29. The USA team is now Reed, Justin Thomas, Collin Morikawa and Xander Schauffele. Morikawa won this year’s British Open for his second major championship.
