Nick Chubb and the Browns reached a deal that will keep him in Cleveland for another three years.

Chubb and the Browns agreed to a three-year, $36.6 million extension on Saturday, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. He is guaranteed $20 million of that contract, which is the seventh-highest among running backs in the league.

“Cleveland drafted me however many years ago it was, trusted me and put their faith in me to come here and help build this culture of this team I’ve been a part of it,” Chubb said last month, via Cleveland.com. “I feel like, yeah, Cleveland is where I want to be and hope everything can work out in that direction.”

Chubb was set to enter the final year of his initial four-year, $7.3 million deal with the Browns this fall. He will earn about $3.3 million this season, and then average about $12 million per season through the end of his deal after the 2024 season.

Chubb, 25, racked up 1,067 rushing yards and a career-high 12 touchdowns last season for the Browns. He missed the final four games of the season with a knee injury, but finished seventh in rushing in the league — trailing both David Montgomery and James Robinson by a mere three yards.

He’s now run for two 1,000-yard seasons in his three years in the league, and was just four yards shy of hitting that mark in his rookie season. He ran for nearly 1,500 yards in 2019, and came in second just behind Titans star Derrick Henry for the league rushing title.

“I think you all know the affinity that we have for him both as a player and as a person,” Browns general manager Andrew Berry said about extending Chubb’s deal earlier this offseason, via ESPN. “He has modeled that over the first three years of his career here. I think that is something that we certainly see every day and that you all can see externally.”
