Huge college stars like Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese have led to a surge in popularity of women’s basketball – now they transition to the WNBA, and the league can’t wait to keep growing.

The Atlanta Dream take us inside their 2024 draft night and how they’re gearing up for this influx of energy and enthusiasm.

The Dream selected Nyadiew Puoch with the 12th overall pick in the 2024 WNBA draft Monday. The 19-year-old has already played two seasons in Australia’s WNBL, and a championship with the Southside Flyers last season, under her belt. With the 20th overall pick, the Dream selected another Australian teenager – Isabel Borlase. And later selected Italian Matilde Villa with its third round pick.

“We’re super excited to be able to add these young talented players” Dream coach Tanisha Wright said. “We like what we’ve seen them do at such a young age and we expect them to grow their game into the future.” “We are excited to be able to infuse this young talent into our group.”

Added general manager Dan Padover: “(Puoch) is a long athletic wing, who immediately brings energy to your team. She’s great in the open court and to [Wright’s] point she’s 19-years-old, with great athletic ability and will continue to add to her game. We really like what the future could hold for this 19-year-old.”
