It was safe to assume we wouldn’t see much drama during National Signing Day on Wednesday as the early signing period opened. With the entire top 35 and 98 of the top 100 prospects in the Class of 2024 already committed, chances for jaw-dropping decisions shaking up the college football landscape were low. The chances for headlines to be made came down to prospects flipping in the final hour, and there were a few of those. One in particular actually helped decide the college football recruiting king early for the 2024 cycle.

Even after losing five-star quarterback Dylan Raiola to Nebraska, it was two-time reigning champion Georgia that emerged with the No. 1-ranked class after the Bulldogs flipped five-star defensive back KJ Bolden from Florida State. Wednesday’s achievement marks the first time since 2020 that Georgia has secured the top-rated recruiting class. Alabama, Ohio State, Florida State and Texas came into the day rounding out the top five, though there was some shuffling as each of these programs welcomed in coveted prospects.
