The 76ers were looking to stave off elimination on Thursday night in Game 6 against the Heat, but their challenge became a lot harder when they lost Danny Green to a left knee injury in the first quarter.
Green was an integral part of Doc Rivers’ rotation throughout the 2021-22 season, bringing some defensive nous along with his long-range shooting. He was a solid complementary piece next to Joel Embiid, who could draw the attention of opposing defenses and free up space for Green on the perimeter.
What is Green’s injury, and when will he be available to play again? Here’s everything we know about his status.
What is Danny Green’s injury?
The Sixers announced on Friday that Green had suffered a torn ACL and LCL in his left knee.
The injury occurred early in the first quarter of Game 6 when Embiid tumbled into Green’s knee, which bent in an unnatural manner as he absorbed the contact.

Green tried to get up, then collapsed to the floor in clear pain. He had to be carried to the locker room. The 76ers later announced that Green would not return.
How long will Danny Green be out?
As of Friday, the Sixers had not yet shared a timetable on a return for Green. He will likely be out for several months and miss a significant portion of the 2022-23 season.
Green signed a two-year, $20 million contract with Philadelphia in August, but the second year of the deal is non-guaranteed.
