The Shriners Children’s Open, which began Thursday with a 10-under 61 by Sung Kang that gave him a two-shot lead after the first round, features the best field of the still-young 2021-22 PGA Tour season — and it’s not really that close. A majority of the world’s top 50 golfers are teeing it up this week at TPC at Summerlin, and an event in Las Vegas means more primetime viewing for everyone tuning in.
Brooks Koepka, Viktor Hovland, Will Zalatoris, Sam Burns, Scottie Scheffler, Louis Oosthuizen, Patrick Reed and Webb Simpson are among the draws this week in Vegas and all favorites to win the third event of the PGA Tour season.
The Shriners is the first of two consecutive events in Las Vegas for the Tour, and both will include terrific field as next week’s CJ Cup at The Summit Club is the last event in the continental United States for a month. These events also double as the start of the heart of the fall season, which spans September through the end of November.
Opportunities to see the best in the world tee it up between now and the start of 2022 are pretty thin, and this is one of the last best ones. Throw in young potential stars like Sahith Theegala and Mito Pereira, as well as the premium viewing times, and the Shriners stands out as one of the better watches on the fall slate. Here’s how you can tune in for all four rounds in Las Vegas.
