Want to attend a New York Yankees or New York Mets game for free? Of course you do. To make that happen, all you need to do is get vaccinated.
The Mets and Yankees will give free tickets to fans who get vaccinated at their stadiums, New York governor Andrew Cuomo announced Wednesday.
Cuomo is encouraging Mets and Yankees fans to get vaccinated in preparation for both teams to open up more seats at their ballparks. Starting May 19, both stadiums will be open at full capacity for fully vaccinated individuals. Unvaccinated capacity will be 33 percent, according to Cuomo.
Fans will still be required to wear a mask at the ballparks.
Mets, Yankees encouraging fans to be vaccinated
The Mets and Yankees are no strangers to making sure fans are vaccinated. Both Yankee Stadium and Citi Field have been vaccine sites for New Yorkers since February.
Both teams have a quite a bit to offer fans this season, especially for free. The Yankees are starting to hit after a slow start, have jumped out to a 15-14 record and are back in the thick of it for the American League East crown. And the Mets are … guaranteed to be entertaining, at the very least.
An opportunity to see Jacob deGrom or Gerrit Cole take the mound is definitely worth a free ticket. Sure, the Mets will let deGrom down by not scoring any runs in that game, but, hey, you got in for free, right?
