$1 million was on the line as the 2024 TST competition came to a dramatic close on Monday evening, and for the first time in the tournament’s two-year history, that purse was up for grabs twice.

The first-ever TST women’s final took the field first at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, NC, with the men’s final following shortly after.

In both games, a million-dollar prize was awarded to the winner, while the loser walked home with nothing. The seven-on-seven matches were played across 40 minutes of regulation, before being sent to what is known as “target score time.” There, the “target score” was the winning team’s total plus one, and it’s first to that number wins, ensuring every game ended on a walk-off goal.

The Sporting News brings you everything you need to know about this year’s completed finals, with a full $1 million prize awarded to both the men’s winner and women’s champion at the end of the thrilling evening.

La Bombonera top Nani FC in men’s 2024 TST final

Nani FC, led by the team’s namesake of Manchester United renown, were riding high after knocking off the defending champions Newtown Pride in the semifinals, but they were served a dose of humility in the finals.

La Bombonera, a team hailing from Delaware with Mexican roots, won the $1 million men’s final in 2024 as they secured a resounding 4-0 victory to win the title!

University of Delaware alum Chad Poarch scored the game-winner in “Target Score Time” to send Lam Bombonera to the ultimate prize.

US Women down NC Courage in women’s 2024 TST final

Having served as the lone women’s side in the inaugural 2023 TST competition last year, the U.S. Women are your first-ever TST women’s $1 million champions!

The team was led by TST investor Heather O’Reilly and former USWNT star Ali Krieger, with other USWNT veterans such as Ali Long, Lori Lindsey, and Cat Whitehill all on the roster. The U.S. Women have seen contributions from a host of other contributors as well, including Jo Lohman, who earned nine USWNT caps in her career and played on last year’s team, as well as former UNC standout Talia Dellaperuta and her sister Tori, who both play for Italian side Sampdoria.

They met their most formidable opponent so far as they faced off against local side NC Courage, but prevailed again, winning the first TST women’s final 6-3.

In the early going, the teams went back and forth, as the U.S. Women took the lead three times only to see NC Courage respond all three times. But that was all the local side had, as the USWNT vets took over from there, making it 5-3 before “Target Score Time” when Talia Dellaperuta scored the game-winning goal.

Talia said after the match that scoring a walk-off winner to secure $1 million “doesn’t compare to any other moment in my soccer career.”
