Chennai Super Kings produced a very controlled bowling performance as Kolkata Knight Riders could manage only 137/9 in 20 overs at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Monday. After opting to bowl, CSK bowlers , particularly Ravindra Jadeja and Tushar Deshpande, kept KKR quiet as they lost wickets at regular intervals. Both the bowlers took three wickets each as the dangerous KKR batting line-up was left with a tough job at hand. Towards the end of the innings, a rare incident happened – of that of MS Dhoni dropping a catch.

It happened in the 18th over of Mustafizur Rahman. The Bangladesh star bowled one slow off-cutter as KKR’s Andre Rusell got a thick outside-edge. Dhoni was slow and leapt with to his right. The ball hit the gloves and went down. Mustafizur Rahman was not pleased while the commentator said: “Even sound effects could not produce so much silence.”

Hosts Chennai Super Kings restricted Kolkata Knight Riders to paltry 137 for 9 in their Indian Premier League match in Chennai on Monday. Seasoned all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja (3/18) led the charge with a three-wicket haul for CSK, who took wickets at regular intervals and did well to stem the flow of runs at the Chepauk.

Pacer Tushar Deshpande (3/33) also accounted for three batters while Mustafizur Rehman (2/22) picked two wickets.

Skipper Shreyas Iyer top scored for KKR with a 32-ball 34.

Brief Scores: Kolkata Knight Riders 137 for 9 in 20 overs (Shreyas Iyer 34, Sunil Narine 27; Ravindra Jadeja 3/18, Tushar Deshpande 3/33).
