Even the best golfers can go a lifetime without hitting a hole in one but for Bryson DeChambeau simply making one was not enough: he had to do so over his Texas mansion.
For many the feat would be unthinkable for fear of an expensive window repair bill but the two-time US Open winner completed his challenge in just over two weeks.
The 31-year-old posted videos of his attempts on social media. Starting with one shot on his first day, DeChambeau’s rule was that as every day passed he granted himself an extra shot.
DeChambeau hit balls from a mat positioned in his driveway and over his $2 million mansion which is fitted with ceiling-high glass windows. On his 16th day of trying, after 134 attempts, the US Ryder Cup star finally found the bottom of the hole set up in his back garden.
As the message was relayed to him via a walkie talkie, DeChambeau leapt for joy and screamed: “I can’t believe I made that, finally! Are you kidding me?!” before collapsing to the ground in relief.

It has been a suspenseful fortnight for those following the attempts on social media, with his first try landing just one foot from the hole and others hitting the pin as well as flirting with the hole.
The LIV golfer has become one of the leading figures in golf content creation after launching a YouTube channel which has featured Donald Trump and involved DeChambeau attempting to play golf with children’s clubs. The channel has 1.6 million subscribers and the video of the the hole-in-one over his house has already reached four million views on X and more than half a million likes on Instagram.
DeChambeau had a successful year professionally, beating Rory McIlroy by one shot to win the US Open at Pinehurst and also finishing eighth in the LIV individual standings.
