Full-back Leigh Halfpenny set for a career milestone

Wales squad for summer Tests 2021

Leigh Halfpenny will make his 100th Test appearance when Wales take on Canada at the Principality Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

The full-back has won 95 Wales caps as well as four for the British & Irish Lions.

At the other end of the spectrum, five players are set to make their international debut in the first of Wales’ summer Tests.

Uncapped wing Tom Rogers and lock Ben Carter both start against Canada, while prop Gareth Thomas, back-row Taine Basham and centre Ben Thomas are all named on the bench.

Wales coach Wayne Pivac said: “This summer is an important block as we build towards Rugby World Cup 2023 and it is great to give five uncapped players opportunities.

“They have all impressed us in training, deserve a chance and we are looking forward to seeing them step up to the Test arena.”

After playing Canada, the 2021 Six Nations champions face Argentina in a two-Test series, with matches on 10 and 17 July.
