Will anyone stop this Texas team from making history?

The Longhorns made quick work of Florida on Saturday, completing a dominant 10-0 win in five innings, and they have their sights on Stanford next as the Cardinal aim to play spoiler on Monday.

Stanford knocked No. 6 UCLA out of the Women’s College World Series on Sunday, doing so behind an excellent start by NiJaree Canady. The Cardinal have only allowed five runs in three College World Series games, but four came in last week’s matchup against Texas. Stanford’s offense, meanwhile, only notched one hit in the effort.

This Stanford team seems to enjoy playing the role of spoiler. After knocking two higher seeds out of the tournament entirely, there’s no doubt the Cardinal have the confidence required to take down Texas. That’s only half the battle, though.

A win on Monday night would send Texas to the Final, which starts Wednesday, bringing the Longhorns extraordinarily close to their first national championship.

7:14 p.m. — NiJaree Canady strikes out Reese Atwood to end the inning and strand Scott. That’s the start Stanford was looking for.

7:10 p.m. — Mia Scott comes through with Texas’ first hit of the night as she singles with one out.

7:08 p.m. — The night starts with a groundout from Bella Dayton.

7:04 p.m. — We’re just a minute or two away from first pitch as Stanford takes aim at an upset.

6:55 p.m. — That line of strong storms has now moved far away from Oklahoma City, so weather shouldn’t be a factor tonight unless a smaller storm pops up unexpectedly.

6:30 p.m. — Florida’s upset of Oklahoma today and the postponement of their second game to tomorrow means the WCWS Final won’t be determined tonight. Texas can be the first to clinch a spot with a win in this game.
