The Oklahoma Sooners and defensive coordinator Alex Grinch recently sent out their latest offer to five-star safety Sonny Styles of Pickerington, Ohio. He is rated the No. 1 safety in the 2023 recruiting class. It isn’t hard to find Styles on the field standing in at 6’4″. He plays with a punishing style as he uses his size to his advantage.

A player that would do well in the Grinch defense as an enforcer on the back end of the defense. Going up against these offenses that like to throw it all over the field, defenses need that imposing player on the back end to try and disrupt the timing of the passing game.

Styles is a two-way player in that he also plays wide receiver. He has the ball skills necessary to create opportunities for the offense. The Sooners look to make a major push in the 2023 recruiting cycle and if they land both Styles and quarterback Malachi Nelson, that would put them off to a great start.
