New England Patriots defensive lineman Christian Barmore has been absent from the last three training camp sessions, and we finally know why.
On Sunday, the team announced that Barmore had been diagnosed with blood clots at Mass General Brigham Hospital. They’ve said that they are focused on his health and there is no timetable for his return to football activities.
Blood clots can be extremely dangerous. Many NFL players have dealt with them, including Marquise Goodwin, Kenneth Walker and Billy Price. While the first two were able to return to the field, Price was forced to retire from the game.
New England’s center, David Andrews, dealt with blood clots in 2019 and missed the whole year.
Hopefully, Barmore is able to recover and return to his normal life as soon as possible.
The defensive lineman, who turned 25 on Sunday, has appeared in 44 games, recording 133 tackles (18 for a loss), 32 quarterback hits, 12.5 sacks, nine passes defensed and one forced fumble. He signed a massive $92 million contract extension this offseason.
