How sweet it is. The NCAA volleyball tournament is down to 16 squads trying to make a run for the national championship. In just a matter of days, only four will remain. Who will it be?

The first and second rounds of the tournament saw upsets around the country, extra-point 5-set thrillers and some of the nation’s best stars take their final bows. Now, it’s time for the survivors to put their skills to the ultimate test as teams put their finishing touches on the Race to the Roses.

Top seeds Pitt and Nebraska rolled into regionals with sweeps in the opening weekend. But the Huskers may have to face rival Wisconsin in the regional semifinals to lock up a spot in Louisville.

The final four host Cardinals need to turn it around quickly after an emotional five-set win over Northern Illinois. Can the Cardiac Cards keep the energy going and make the semifinals in their hometown? Penn State, the final No. 1 seed, looks to get back to the final four, but the Nittany Lions may have to face two-time defending champion Texas to keep their season going. They’ll have all of Rec Hall behind them, at least, one of the toughest gyms to play in.
