Coming off a controversial finish at Richmond and the penalty to race winner Austin Dillon, the NASCAR Cup Series heads to Michigan International Speedway this race weekend.
Sunday’s FireKeepers Casino 400 is now much more intriguing than it was before last Sunday’s race at Richmond. Dillon wrecked Denny Hamlin and Joey Logano on the final lap to win the race, but his playoff berth via that race win was stripped by NASCAR mid-week to penalize his actions in the final corner.
Before Richmond, Dillon was having his worst season as a Cup Series full-time driver, sitting outside the top 30 in the points standings. Ahead of Michigan, he is now one of the stories of the season. When will any receipts be handed out by Hamlin or Logano?
The high-speed, two-mile track in Brooklyn, Michigan will also host the ARCA Menards Series on Friday and the Xfinity Series on Saturday, the latter of which has been off since July 20.
