The underdog label, be it literal or self-imposed, seems to be suiting Minnesota United just fine. Three assists from Emanuel Reynoso and two goals in quick succession from Kevin Molino send the Loons to a club-record 10th straight win and their first-ever Western Conference final as 3-0 victors over top seed Sporting Kansas City. Playing without Alan Pulido, Sporting KC could have been up at least 2-0 inside 20 minutes, but Johnny Russell had multiple chances either cleared off the line or saved in spectacular fashion by Dayne St. Clair. Bakaye Dibassy sealed the deal for Adrian Heath’s side shortly after Molino completed his brace, heading in a corner-kick delivery from Reynoso to make it 3-0 before halftime. Minnesota will now face Seattle Sounders in the conference final, with the winner moving on to play either Columbus Crew or New England Revolution in the MLS Cup final.
