Manchester United will tonight be without Casemiro for their trip to Sheffield United.

Initial worries over an ankle injury to the midfielder while on Brazil duty appeared to have abated after the midfielder came through the full 90 minutes of his country’s defeat to Uruguay on Tuesday night.

However, he has remained in Brazil to recover from the knock and will miss the game in Yorkshire.

Sofyan Amrabat was forced to withdraw from Morocco‘s squad due to a reported injury issue, but has since returned to training in Manchester and is set to be involved this weekend.

“It’s disappointing that Casemiro picked up an injury but it’s not too bad,” Ten Hag said during his press conference on Friday.

“I’m sure and confident he will be back for the next games, so very short notice. The good thing is also that Sofyan Amrabat is available.”

Ten Hag also gave positive updates on Raphael Varane and Sergio Reguilon, with both fit again after the international break, while Victor Lindelof is “ready to play” after a distressing week with Sweden, who had their match with Belgium abandoned at half-time after a terror attack in Brussels.

Lisandro Martinez, Luke Shaw, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Tyrell Malacia all remain absent for United.

Ten Hag will also field calls to hand Scott McTominay a starting berth having rescued the Red Devils with two goals off the bench against Brentford last time out.

Predicted Man Utd XI: Onana; Dalot, Lindelof, Varane, Reguilon; Amrabat, McTominay; Fernandes, Mount, Rashford; Hojlund

Injuries: Shaw, Malacia, Wan-Bissaka, Mainoo, Amad, Martinez, Casemiro

Doubts: Reguilon, Varane, Amrabat
