Notre Dame football ended the first half with a momentum-changing play. Then, Jayden Harrison opened the second half of the Sugar Bowl College Football Playoff quarterfinal with a monster return to keep that momentum with the Fighting Irish.

With No. 7 Notre Dame coming out of the halftime tunnel with a 13-3 lead over No. Georgia, Harrison returned a kickoff 98 yards for a touchdown to push the Fighting Irish lead to 17 points, seconds into the second half.

Harrison’s kickoff return was the first of the season for the Marshall transfer. It was the fourth kickoff return for a touchdown for Harrison, who started his career at Vanderbilt.

Harrison displayed good patience during his return, waiting for his blockers to open lanes for him to run. Once he found one, he hit his stride and hit the sideline, avoided a tackle and took it to the house for the score.

Harrison entered Thursday’s game averaging 20.3 yards per return. He also added 17 catches for 211 yards and a touchdown in 13 games, including two starts.
