Kane has the ball in the back of the net after a long ball over the top of the Newcastle defence by Hojbjerg and the striker then produces a fine finish to chip it over Darlow and into the back of the net. However, the offside flag is quick to go up and it is ruled out. However, VAR will take a look.

20′ Decent chance! Lascelles rises highest as a corner is whipped into the box from the left and the Newcastle skipper powers a header towards goal. However, he gets too much on it and the ball flies over the bar.

19′ It is the Tottenham supporters you can hear inside the stadium now, as Spurs have managed to quieten the home crowd in the last few minutes and have a foothold in the game.

17′ Spurs worked it well into the final third and Reguilon was given far too much time and space to pick out Ndombele in a good position, who superbly finished.

17′ GOAL! TOTTENHAM ARE LEVEL! Ndombele finds the equaliser and makes it 1-1! Reguilon cuts inside from the left wing and finds Ndomeble on the edge of the penalty area and he produces a superb finish, firing the ball into the top right corner of the net. Tottenham are back in it!

15′ Good move by Spurs! Ndombele picks out Lucas deep down the right and he takes a touch in the box and then tries to find a team-mate with a cross. However, his ball is really poor and it misses everyone, flying out of play. Wasted opportunity.

13′ Hojbjerg manages to find some time and space around 30 yards out and he doesn’t have much else on, so fires a low effort towards goal. However, it lacks the pace to beat Darlow, who makes a comfortable save.

11′ Today’s game is Bruce’s 1000th game in charge across his managerial career (W376 D254 L369). He’s won just four of his 26 encounters with Spurs in all competitions (D9 L13), with each victory coming in the Premier League with a different club (Birmingham, Wigan, Sunderland, Newcastle).

9′ It hasn’t been the best of starts for Tottenham, they are having to sit deep to defend early on as Newcastle look bright and threatening in attack.

7′ Good move! Ritchie and Joelinton link up well down the left wing, playing a quick one-two, with Ritchie getting in behind the Spurs defence. However, he can’t find a cross and the chance goes away.

6′ Newcastle look very confident in these opening few minutes, playing it nicely around the pitch with enthusiasm and intent, with Tottenham unable to get a grip of the game.

4′ The atmosphere is electric inside St James’ Park, with the new owners presented to the crowd prior to kick-off and the early goal has put the supporters in high spirits.

2′ Manquillo sprinted forward from deep and provided the option for Saint-Maximin on the overlap, which opened Tottenham up down the wing and the right-back delivered a lovely cross for Wilson to convert.

2′ GOAL! NEWCASTLE TAKE THE LEAD! What a start to the game by Newcastle, they lead 1-0! They work it really well in the final third, switching it from left to right and Saint-Maximin lays it off to Manquillo on the overlap, who whips a cross into the box, which is met by the head of Wilson and he powers it into the back of the net. The striker wasn’t going to miss from there!

Bruce has made two changes to his starting line-up, with Lascelles and Wilson coming into the side and they have replaced Fernandez and Miguel Almiron.

Meanwhile Tottenham ended their three-game losing streak last time out, having suffered defeats against Crystal Palace, Chelsea and Arsenal. They managed to beat Aston Villa 2-1 two weeks ago and they sit 10th in the table.

The takeover of Newcastle was finally completed over the international break and with Mike Ashley’s reign now over, it has got the supporters extremely excited about the future of the club. However, it has led to rumours over Steve Bruce’s future as the manager, with several big names linked to the top job. The new owners will be keen to see their side pick up their first victory of the season today, as they suffered a 2-1 defeat against Wolves last time out, to leave them 18th in the table, with just three points so far.
