“Whoever came up with that s*** needs to be fired.” With ten words, LeBron James re-ignited a controversy about the NBA’s inaugural play-in tournament and pointed the spotlight on an NBA executive most fans hadn’t even heard of until a few days ago.

Who is that executive who suddenly drew the ire of the league’s most prominent player? Evan Wasch, Executive Vice President of Basketball Strategy & Analytics.

Evan joins the podcast to talk about the creation of the play-in tournament, his response to LeBron, how the NBA creates the annual schedule and how it divvies up the nationally televised games amongst the league’s thirty teams.
