Julius Randle has been named the Eastern Conference Player of the Month, the NBA announced, after helping lead the Knicks to an 11-4 record during April.
Randle averaged 27.1 points, 9.0 rebounds and 6.3 assists during that stretch to help bring the Knicks up to the No. 4 seed in the East and stay there.
Those numbers bring his season averages to 24.2 points, 10.3 rebounds and 5.9 assists per game, which would all be career highs by the end of the season.
The first time All-Star has become the odds on favorite to be named the Most Improved Player in the league, and his recent outburst — and the Knicks’ winning ways — has him even starting to enter some MVP conversations as well.
Randle’s first Player of the Month award also makes him the first Knick to win it since Carmelo Anthony in January of 2014.
Stephen Curry was named the Western Conference Player of the Month in April.
