The 41-year-old native of Chantilly, France as the son of a former jockey and later assistant trainer, he began his racing career as an exercise rider for trainer Patrick Biancone in southern California in 2003. His first win was aboard Easter Guardian at Saratoga on August 15, 2005, in a 4 horse photo finish. His first graded stakes win came at Churchill Downs aboard Man of Illusion in the 2006 Aegon Turf Sprint (G3). He won 6 races on a 10 race card at Keeneland on April 20, 2012. He said, “I’m very thankful that my family could be here with me today for this. It took awhile to get it done but I’m very happy I was able to do it today. Churchill Downs and Kentucky have been such a big part of my career and it was great to do it at home.” On hand for the ceremony were his wife Shea (daughter of the late Mike Mitchell, a trainer in California) and sons Mitchell and Vinn.
