After their loss to the Miami Heat put their record at 2-11, the Philadelphia 76ers organized a team meeting to discuss their problems on November 18.

ESPN’s Shams Charania reported the full details.

Among the most noteworthy details was that Tyrese Maxey called out Joel Embiid for being late to team activities and how that impacted the locker room.

It read like a tense discussion between the two teammates. However, ex-Sixers guard Lou Williams clarified what happened between Maxey and Embiid in the locker room.

The newest details of their locker room discussion

Williams gave the inside scoop on what he had heard from the Sixers’ brass of what happened on Run it Back.

“I ended up on the phone with a few guys from the 76ers. By all accounts, this was kind of blown out of proportion,” Williams said, as he further said it wasn’t a blowup as much as it was simply a conversation about accountability.

Williams further refuted the idea it was a fight while noting Maxey’s rapport with Embiid.

“It wasn’t as much of Tyrese Maxey challenging Joel Embiid as it’s been stated. It was a conversation about accountability. By all accounts, those guys are doing just fine,” Williams continued. “They were sitting next to each other when we were on the phone, laughing and giggling, and having a good time and trying to get this team back on the same page.”

The Sixers are on the verge of having their entire roster healthy in the coming days, with their Big Three playing together for the first time Wednesday. Their season has not started the way they wanted, but there’s plenty of time for them to right the ship.

Williams played for the Sixers from 2005 to 2012. He never won any of his three Sixth Man of the Year awards during his time there but found his exact niche as a player with the team. He left two years before the Sixers drafted Embiid.
