Wimbledon’s defending champion, Novak Djokovic, has defeated Canada’s Denis Shapovalov during a dramatic match at the semi-finals.

The 22-year-old didn’t make it easy for Djokovic and the crowd wanted to see the Canadian advance. In the end, Djokovic prevailed, winning in two hours and 44 minutes in straight sets.

But Shapovalov won plenty of attention as the next big name in tennis. As Crystal Goomansingh explains, that’s a huge win for the Canadian game.
