Atlanta Braves outfielder Ronal Acuna left their matchup with the Philadelphia Phillies on Saturday night after he was hit in the hand by a pitch.
Acuna, in the seventh inning at Truist Park, was hit by Phillies reliever Sam Coonrod’s nearly 98-mph pitch — the second straight pitch that had come inside.
Instantly, Acuna threw down his helmet and was clearly in pain.
Acuna left the game and did not return. X-rays on his hand came back negative, the team announced. He suffered a left pinky finger contusion, and is now listed as day-to-day.
Acuna, 23, is hitting .321 so far this season and has 10 home runs with 22 RBIs.
The Braves forced extra innings in the bottom of the ninth after third baseman Pablo Sandoval drilled a two-run homer with two outs, tying the game up 3-3.
