Bolivia is expected to play once again without forward Marcelo Moreno, who tested positive for Covid-19 at the start of the tournament along with others in the camp. Gilbert Alvarez has been on the pitch in his absence with limited success and impact after only finding the back of the net once through a penalty.
Uruguay have been disappointing thus far this tournament, earning one point in two matches. Edinson Cavani is back for the squad after serving his suspension earlier this month during the World Cup qualifiers, therefore having no excuses on the offense in Brazil.
In-form Luis Suarez has only managed to score once so far against Chile, otherwise being kept at bay by opponents. No injuries are reported but changes should be expected ahead of the match against Bolivia.
Jaume Cuellar is expected to make the starting 11 on Thursday, returning from a previous suspension.
Uruguay: Muslera; Vina, Gimenez, Godin, Gonzalez; Torreira, Valverde, Bentancur, De La Cruz; Cavani, Suarez.
Bolivia: Cordano; Sagredo, Jusino, Quinteros; Flores, Bejarano, Justiniano, Cespedes, Saavedra; Cuellar, Alvarez.
Uruguay holds a decent record against Bolivia, having won 29 games out of a total 43 matches played between the two countries in all competitions.
Bolivia stands with only seven victories against Uruguay, hoping to improve their record and increase their chances in the 2021 Copa America. The last meeting between the two nations occurred in 2018 that concluded with a 4-2 victory for Uruguay, where Bolivia struggled to cope since the first whistle.
Despite their disappointing start, Uruguay enters the match against Bolivia as favorites to win. La Celeste are expected to improve their attack, having Suarez and Cavani leading the offense.
While a complete Bolivia could have created some friction, an outbreak of Covid-19 cases diminished their possibilities immensely. A lone goal might occur by Bolivia, but Uruguay should easily dominate.
Prediction: Bolivia 0-2 Uruguay
