Carlo Ancelotti has downplayed concerns over Jude Bellingham’s recurring shoulder issue.

The Los Blancos manager stated that while the midfielder will wear protective gear for Real Madrid’s upcoming match against Alaves, it is not a major concern.

Bellingham initially dislocated his left shoulder in November 2023 but has opted against surgery, choosing a more conservative treatment plan so he could continue playing.

Last season, he wore protective strapping, but he has been playing without it so far this season.

However, during Real Madrid’s recent 4-1 victory over Espanyol, Bellingham fell awkwardly on the same shoulder and needed medical attention.

Ancelotti said: “It’s the same shoulder as last year.

“The problem he had the other day hasn’t affected him. He’ll wear protection, just to be safe, but he’s available, he’ll play.”

After hosting Alaves, Madrid have a crucial derby against Atletico Madrid at the Wanda Metropolitano.

Ancelotti also took a moment to praise the performance of young forward Endrick, who has already made an impact this season by scoring in both LaLiga and the Champions League.

“He knows to be patient, he understands,” Ancelotti added.

“Every day he trains with the best forwards in the world, he understands his role perfectly… He’s very professional, very mature. He’ll get his minutes when we need him.”

Additionally, Ancelotti confirmed that Ferland Mendy has signed a new contract with Real Madrid.

Mendy’s previous deal was set to expire next summer.

He said: “He’s signed a new contract, he’s doing well.

“His defensive level is very high… We have a left winger [Vinicius] who’s very strong, so we don’t ask a lot of him in attack, but he could do it.”
