Monday’s series opener between the Dodgers and Cubs was postponed due to inclement weather in Chicago. It will be made up as part of a split doubleheader on Tuesday with the first game set for 11:20 a.m. PT. Game 2 will begin at 4:40 p.m.

Clayton Kershaw will start Game 1 for the Dodgers, and Trevor Bauer will take the ball in Game 2. Kershaw was scheduled to start on Tuesday, so he stays on his regular routine. Bauer was set to start on Wednesday, but he’s now being moved up a day. Walker Buehler, who was scheduled to start on Monday, will now start Wednesday’s finale.

Los Angeles could have opted to go with a bullpen game in either of Tuesday’s games in order to keep its starting rotation in line, especially after the news that Dustin May will undergo Tommy John surgery. By opting for Bauer in Game 2, the Dodgers will now have to make some decisions with their starters for the upcoming weekend series against the Angels.

The sudden off-day does give Los Angeles’ bullpen some added rest. The Dodgers opted for a bullpen game on Friday against the Brewers and essentially had another bullpen game on Saturday after May exited in the second inning with an injury.
