Carlo Ancelotti has confirmed Kylian Mbappe will travel with the Real Madrid squad for Wednesday’s Copa del Rey clash with Real Sociedad despite being unable to train due to a tooth problem.

Madrid make the trip to Real Sociedad for the first leg of their semi-final tie but saw their preparations rocked by a medical issue for Mbappe, with Spanish media revealing the Frenchman had a tooth removed on the eve of the game.

Asked for an update on Mbappe’s condition, Ancelotti insisted the superstar forward remains in contention to feature on Wednesday.

“Mbappe is traveling,” Ancelotti told the media. “He had a problem with a tooth and couldn’t train.

“He’s traveling tomorrow and can play. Everyone who travels has a chance of playing the game.”

MARCA state Mbappe could begin the Sociedad game on the bench, with Ancelotti prioritising the upcoming La Liga clash with Real Betis and Madrid‘s Champions League last 16 tie with city rivals Atletico.

Federico Valverde is likely to be left out of Wednesday’s match for similar reasons, while goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois will also be rested as Andriy Lunin is handed another chance to impress in the Copa del Rey.
